A religion that emerged in the fifth to sixth centuries B.C., in India. The ultimate goal of Buddhism is to achieve nirvana, i.e. a state of eternal peace and bliss, by renouncing desires, getting rid of suffering, and moral perfection. No one and nothing can save a person, he must do it himself. Buddha does not save people, he only points the right way to it. To achieve the state of liberation in Buddhism there are a number of special methods – meditation, reincarnation, etc. The teaching of love and mercy for all living beings also occupies an important place in Buddhism.

Hinduism

A religion formed in the first century A.D. in India. Hinduism is not like the religions familiar to Westerners – Christianity, Judaism, or Islam – primarily because, unlike them, it does not represent an integral doctrine. It was not created by any founder or prophet, but developed through a long historical synthesis of religious beliefs. Hinduism has no single authoritative scripture, system of doctrines, or confessional organization and priesthood, and therefore no single authority in religious matters. All this has also given rise to a certain psychological makeup of Hindus. Various qualities were intricately intertwined: adherence to certain beliefs with unprincipled behavior; striving to achieve a certain social position with envy (or hatred) of those who had it higher, etc.

Confucianism

An ethical-political doctrine founded by the ancient Chinese thinker Confucius, Confucianism is based on: The doctrine of filial deference, according to which a respectful son must spend his life devotedly caring for his parents, serving and pleasing them, being ready to do anything for their health and welfare, honoring them in all circumstances, the doctrine of raising a highly moral (noble) man, who must have honesty and sincerity, rectitude and fearlessness, modesty, justice, restraint, dignity, selflessness, love for people.

The Taoist religion was a traditional Chinese religion that emerged in the second and third centuries A.D. and was a popular religion with believers who were naturally and simply religious in their views and beliefs, not hostile to the world and people, but sociable, friendly, compassionate, and helpful.

Jainism

A religion that has embraced the concept of karma and ultimate liberation-nirvana, common to the Indian faiths. Without recognizing the existence of a creator-God, it regards the human soul as an eternal substance and the world as primordial. By overcoming the corporeal shell obtained as a result of previous lives, the soul can, by perfecting itself, attain omniscience, omnipotence, and eternal bliss.

Zoroastrianism

Ancient Iranian religion, the creation of which is attributed to the mythical prophet Zarathustra (Zoroaster). Zoroastrianism was formed by the 7th century B.C. Zoroastrianism is based on the doctrine of a permanent struggle in the world between two opposite principles: goodness embodied by the light deity Ahuramazda, and evil embodied by the dark deity Ahriman. He had a great influence on Judaism and Christianity.
