One of the oldest national religions that emerged in the first millennium BC among the Jewish tribes of Palestine, the state religion of Israel. Characteristic features of Judaism: belief in one God Yahweh and Messiah (savior) and the dogma about the Jews being chosen by God. Judaism remained relatively homogeneous much longer than Christianity. The rejection of Christ and the expectation of another, referred to in Christian tradition as the Antichrist, was in the past the spiritual cause of the state and national catastrophe of the Jews and their dispersion throughout the world.
